LNG’s greatest advantage is its low emissions in terms of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, CO2 and, not least, noise. Its particulate matter and NOx values remain well within the limits set out in the Euro Standard VI, while LNG propulsion’s fine dust emissions are so low they are hardly worth mentioning. The “quiet” LNG engine technology facilitates making deliveries outside the standard times.
Natural gas resources are more plentiful than oil resources today. Liquefaction capacities – and thus the supply of LNG – are being considerably expanded worldwide. LNG can be obtained from many regions of the world, making it less susceptible to crises.
