Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential for refuelling an LNG vehicle safely. As well as sturdy footwear and long clothing, a face mask and special protective gloves are required. The PPE must comply with the safety requirements for handling cryogenic technology and cryogenic fuels, such as LNG at a temperature of approx. -161°C, to avoid the risk of burns caused by the very low temperatures.

The full-face protective mask protects the face and eyes from possible cryogenic fuel splashes, which can lead to severe cold burns. This special face protection ensures that there is no direct contact between the skin and the cryogenic fuel.
Protective clothing with long sleeves and trousers provides vital protection for arms and legs. These items prevent direct contact between the skin and LNG, which can cause cold burns on the arms and legs.
Cold-resistant gloves that comply with the standard DIN EN 511:2006 are necessary to protect hands from extremely cold temperatures. The gloves are resistant to both convective transfer and direct contact with cold substances, preventing frostbite or cold burns on the hands.
Safety shoes offer protection against mechanical hazards, such as impacts or pressure, as well as thermal protection. These shoes also meet antistatic requirements to prevent sparks, which is particularly important when working with cryogenic fuels.
